How does the free trial lesson work?

Without locking in any future lessons, I offer a free half hour in person or zoom lesson to get to understand your goals and see if I am the right drum tutor for you.

I’ve never played drums before, can I really learn?

Absolutely! All ages and skills are welcome, it’s never too early or too late to begin to learn the drums. What matters most is the enjoyment presented at lessons, and the willingness to put in the work to progress. If you are an older student and you’re convinced that it’s too late for you, that is not true! Learning to play the drums is like training any muscle. As you learn more and become comfortable, drumming will only become easier and even more enjoyable.

Do you offer online lessons?

Yes I do! I’ve got an online teaching setup which I’ve optimized for zoom lessons. Since I’m based in Australia, time differences do have to kept in mind. To find out if online lessons is feasible for you, feel free to contact me.

Do I need a drum kit before I start?

Definitely not! I get alot of questions from my audience if they need a drum kit to begin. I spent a long time of my drumming journey learning to drum by hitting the drum sticks on the carpet of my bedroom floor, so you definitely don’t need a kit to start. The biggest challenge for any beginner is understanding the fundamentals of rhythm, this can be achieved with just sticks and an exercise pad.

Does Mikaela do call outs/go to students houses?

I have my own teaching studio in Tarragindi that is properly set up for my students to get the most out of their lessons. This is where all lessons are conducted. On some special occasions I do call outs.
